Course Description/Agenda
Never before have children and adolescents faced such a staggering number of serious, non-infectious health issues. Correspondingly, at no other time have health care professionals, families and school personnel dealt with as many health issues in children and adolescents that were previously considered to be health concerns of adulthood. Diabetes, ADHD, asthma, juvenile arthritis, high blood pressure, depression and obesity are just some of the grave concerns facing children, their families and health care practitioners.
This comprehensive one-day seminar will discuss the most challenging health issues faced by children, their families and health care practitioners, as well as why the prevalence of these health conditions has increased. And, more importantly, the course will cover ways to effectively treat these conditions in children by employing various facets of an essential triad of care. That is, blending pharmacological treatment modalities with nutrition and behavioral modifications to prevent and treat disease. Participants will leave this seminar with the knowledge, strategies and resources to guide children and their families to make informed decisions regarding lifestyle and pharmaceutical interventions that decrease the risk for disease and improve health and quality of life.
