This Seminar is also available
On-Site for groups of 20 or more. |
An essential one-day seminar on motor learning-based training systems for the core
Course Description/Agenda
Core stabilization has been a catch phrase in the literature today. Issues related to the core are implicated in a variety of patient populations. While those with low back pain can benefit from this treatment approach, a wide variety of individuals may profit including those with balance and stability problems or athletic performance. Principals of core stabilization can also be applied to other training programs including yoga and Pilates.
Participants of this seminar will be introduced to the concept of core stabilization and muscular control. Implications will be given to clinicians in a variety of settings, however, the primary thrust of this course is addressing patients with low back pain which is evidence-based and supported by current research. Following a review of scientific principals, several hands-on labs will be given. Labs will include physical assessment of instability, techniques to facilitate correct core contractions and training regimens. Participants will practice teaching and performing the techniques for practical implementation in the clinic. Exercises will be given in specific phases. Individual phases compliment each other leading to maximum stabilization. Upon conclusion of this seminar, the participant will not only have a sound scientific understanding of core stabilization exercise, but will have the tools to apply it in the clinic. Participants will be able to assure referral sources and patients that this approach is the best science has to offer.
