Course Description/Agenda

In this intense and hands-on course, you'll gain the skills necessary to deploy a Multiservice Transport Platform (MSTP) network, including fiber-cleaning techniques, fiber test requirements, and node turn-up. You will learn to deploy linear and ring dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) topologies. Using Cisco TransportPlanner (CTP), you will design a DWDM network and use the output to configure the Cisco ONS MSTP Node. You will also cover:

• Multiplexer and demultiplexer cards
• Amplifier and transponder cards
• M12, M6, and M2 shelf types
• Terminal, amplifier, and Reconfigurable Optical Add-Drop Multiplexer (ROADM) node configurations
• Linear, wavelength selective switch (WSS)-based ring and single-module ROADM (SMR)-based topologies
• Three types of DWDM circuits
• 2.5G and 10G transponders, both protected and unprotected

• Connect and configure a Cisco ONS 15454 MSTP chassis
• Identify node configurations according to card population
• Characterize the role of CTP in turning up an MSTP network
• Provision 2.5G and 10G protected and unprotected DWDM circuits using Cisco Transport Controller

• Provision M12 WSS and M6 SMR nodes in ring topologies
• Perform Raman amplifier initialization
