CallPilot Release 5.0 Installation and Configuration

Course Description/Agenda


This training course is designed for distributors and installation technicians whose job function includes installation, configuration, and basic system maintenance responsibilities on the CallPilot unified messaging system.

In this course, you will experience a typical CallPilot system installation, learning each step in the installation and configuration process. CallPilot software is factory installed on the CallPilot server, and you will install the system hardware in a hands-on lab environment. Additional CallPilot administration and client software is installed and tested to verify the correct operation of CallPilot features.

Classroom and lab facilities are designed to replicate a customer's site, switch room, and network facilities. Emphasis is placed on the tasks that an installation technician can expect to perform in the field. Basic system maintenance tasks covered in this course include backing up system data, upgrading keycode-controlled features, and monitoring system operations.

This course does not teach basic computer configuration, Microsoft Windows operating system installation, or IP networking, as these subjects are required prerequisite knowledge.

Prerequisite Skills:

You must have knowledge of or experience with the switch that is connected to the CallPilot server. This includes:

  • A basic understanding of how the switch routes and processes calls
  • Ability to establish the switch cabling connections
  • Ability to configure the switch

You must have knowledge of or experience with the following PC components and software before beginning the CallPilot installation:

Operating systems:

  • Microsoft Windows XP
  • Microsoft Windows 2003 Server
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
  • Microsoft Windows Vista

One or both of the following Web browsers:

  • Internet Explorer 5 or later
  • Mozilla Firefox

One or more of the following e-mail or Internet mail clients:

  • Microsoft Outlook
  • Microsoft Outlook Express
  • Lotus Notes
  • Novell Groupwise
  • Netscape Messenger
  • Qualcomm Eudora Pro
  • TCP/IP protocols
  • Client/server architecture
  • Web server setup and maintenance
  • Software installation and maintenance
  • Hardware installation and maintenance

Knowledge or experience in the following related areas is recommended:

  • Networking
  • Troubleshooting
  • Database management
